What Do You Believe In?

Too often I find myself feeling like the disciples in the boat (Matthew:8:23-25 [23] And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.
[24] And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
[25] And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
) amongst the waves of life crashing against me. Diseases, death, corruption and the lack of mercy, they seem to have the upper hand, and soon I am overwhelmed with the weight of my sorrow. But in the midst He sends me reminders like the following poem.

Eternal Moments

It seems an odd thing to say, but my life is filled with eternal moments. I know experts would probably describe eternity differently, but for me it has consisted of those places in my memory when the clock hands did not correctly tell the true passing of time.

Biblical Restoration

Over the years, many articles have been written and seminars have been taught on the topic of Church Discipline. My youth pastor while growing up taught on positive peer pressure. Yet I would like to look at a different side of the debate: The topic of Restoration.

Fear and Sickness Will Bring you Closer to Christ

I have found, like many, that aging brings challenges to my faith in God and in my Christian life. This kind of challenge to my faith happened not long ago when I faced a health condition that threatened my life. As I began to face surgery several months ago, my fears sometimes pushed away my faith with lies of “You won’t make it this time,” and “The pain will be bad—remember what happened the last time?”

Truly Free

As U.S. citizens we celebrate our freedom on Independence Day, thanking our founding fathers for giving us our liberty. Today we all have the right to vote for our leaders and exercise our political freedoms. We are free to choose how we live, what we say and how we believe. But even though we have all of these earthly freedoms and have been declared independent, are we really free?

Escaping Fear

I have days I am unshakably positive of who I am in the Lord. I have no question of His hand upon me or of the fact that I am walking where He wants me to be. Yes, there are times when I am absolutely sure of my Lord's love for me. But then there are times when I struggle with fear, even to the point where I am overwhelmed by it.

Spiritually Homeless

A friend of mine who drives drives truck locally in the Midwest told me this story. A few weeks ago it was bitter cold and as he drove under an overpass he saw something catch his eye up under the bridge. At first he didn't know what it was but as his brain processed what he was taking in, he realized that the bundle of fabric was a person, perhaps two.

Top 3 Signs of a Good Neighbor

A short time ago, I was counseling a friend who has a contentious neighbor. By searching the Scriptures for all references to neighbors, I began to study through the verses. I quickly saw some of the best and worst traits a neighbor can have. Here are the top 3 best traits to be found in a neighbor according to my study. How are you doing in each of these areas?

Here A Tweet There a Tweet

With the rise of Twitter -- the micro-blogging site -- have come several new words and some adaptations of old analogies. But how new is it really? As Solomon said, "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun." ECC:1:9The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Let's take a fresh look at some old principles and compare them to this new technology.
